FN Rangers has emerged as the frontrunner to capture the services of the most feared and potent striker within Cape Town amateur ranks, Darren Omaticus.
The 31-year-old former Santos pro player has been plying his trade in the Third Division with Jamestown United where he has been banging in the goals and top goalscorer awards for the past few seasons.
His eye for goals and outstanding work rate on and off the ball made him the standout attacker. Needless to say ”Billy”, as he is affectionately known, is undoubtedly hot property and it’s no wonder that most clubs and coaches (Second and Third Divisions) are all interested in the services of this goal poacher, who is a personal trainer by profession.
Omaticus still possesses the quality and ability to play in a higher league. Billy scores goals and hat-tricks with no fuss and makes it look like a training ground routine.
Rangers have fallen short on a couple of occasions in their attempt to win the league, and Billy could provide the extra ammunition needed for the Maitland-based club to take that final step.
Our website has established that ”Boom Boom Billy”, who is currently on Rygersdal’s books, has been training with coach Arreshaat Daniels’ Rangers outfit with the expectation that the two parties can reach an agreement.
“I’m enjoying the environment there already and the mindset is perfect, so I’m sure we will win the league. I’ll do my best to be the top scorer again,” said Billy.
Meanwhile, Daniels said that nothing has been confirmed as yet. “Look, he is training with us and the idea is to make him one of us. But ultimately it is up to him,” said the Rangers coach.
