If there is one wish that coach Chrissando de Weber and his newly promoted Junction Rovers team would like to be granted, it is being told by management that they are prepared to back him financially.
Junction’s first objective will obviously be to try and retain its status in the Second Division of Safa Cape Town.
This after the Heideveld-based outfit ended a drought nearly two decades in the Third Division by winning the league title last season with an impressive run in the second round.
Our website understands that there has been huge interest from players all over to join Junction on their new journey. So, too, have No Bones with Jones been enlightened that there are possible sponsors lined-up for the team but all this needs to be confirmed.
De Weber has acknowledged that their biggest challenge will be finances and the compensation of the players.
“This is a bigger and tougher league than the SAB (Third Division) so we need to at least give players a winning bonus or something,” De Webber stated.
“Also, there needs to be a budget for travelling. We will have to increase our training sessions and I’m looking at at least four times a week as opposed to the two we did in the SAB League,” said the former Bafana Bafana player.
De Weber is also aware that his players will have to adopt a more professional approach and outlook if they want to compete.
“It will be tough for the boys but they have shown in the past what they are made of,” De Weber further explained.
“They have made their community proud and with their support, we achieve more. I think we will be ready for the season, and we might even surprise a lot of people,” De Weber concluded.
