FC Hout Bay’s hopes of bolstering their last line of defence took a setback when they were unsuccessful in their attempt to scoop up FN Rangers’ goalie Zander ‘Twakkies’ Hendricks.
No Bones with Jones got a sniff in the nose that a potential deal was on the cards only to fall through as Twakkies still has “a role to play” according to reliable sources at Rangers.
Hout Bay’s coach Tom ‘TT’ Tobi admitted that although this is not positive news for the coastal outfit, they will not lose any sleep over the one “who got away.”
“Our defence is doing okay but we need an experienced goalkeeper,” Tobi explained to our website.
“As you can see on the log we don’t concede a lot and roped in some experienced strikers as well in the last week so we are covered in all other departments.”
Hout Bay’s desire to strengthen their goalkeeping department comes after Zinodene Petersen, the goalkeeper they signed from Hout Bay United Football Academy, went back to his former club due to better financial prospects.
Tobi’s Hout Bay team is still winless after four matches and has conceded four goals in so many matches and only scored two with a goal difference of minus two.
“Look there have been lots of changes and it is still early days and we are taking it one game at a time,” Tobi further explained.
“We are creating a lot of changes on attack but not converting them,” Tobi stated. “We are in the process of getting the clearance for Zandre Booysen from Durban.
“Then we are hoping for the other striker who used to play NFD and (Vodacom) Second Division football.
“We remain humble in our approach as we are aware things are very tight in this league,” Tobi concluded.
