One of the most successful players in the ABC Motsepe League has returned to Cape Town and is currently unattached.
No Bones with Jones can confirm that Damian Basadien (pictured right), better known as ‘Duimpie’ has parted ways with the Durban-based club Remax Friends FC due to “contractual issues.”
This forced the 28-year-old attacking midfielder to return home to family and friends to ply his trade in his hometown.
And with the transfer window currently open, it will be interesting to see who will win the race to acquire Basadien’s signature.
Our website can also confirm that the Third Division outfit Seaside Spurs has already tabled an offer for the former Santos academy product.
It is no secret that Seaside has the financial muscle to lure Basadien to Ocean View – but it remains to be seen if Basadien, who won three titles with Steenberg United, two with Glendene United and one with Young Bafana last season, will drop down one tier lower.
The reality is that the former Jomo Cosmos player has enough quality and experience to add value at any of the Motsepe League clubs – especially the struggling ones.
And with Young Bafana who have already recruited some of its former stalwarts from last season, it should come as no surprise if the Strand-based outfit rope in the former Origan Spurs amateur player to help get the defending champion back on track.
