Palace’s ‘Oenie’ crystal clear it will not be walk in (Parow) Park for Vasco

Crystal Palace’s co-coach Goodwin Lewis (pictured) has vowed that his team will go all guns blazing in an attempt to foil the log leaders in the Hollywoodbets Third Division campaign, Vasco da Gama at Parow Park on Tuesday evening (19:30).

Palace (33 points), who occupy the third position, are looking to close the gap on the unbeaten frontrunner who has 37 points from 17 matches so far this season.

Lewis conceded that nothing special had been prepared for the table toppers in their quest to become the first side to knock Andrew Pequeno’s unbeaten Vasco at their home ground where they have won six out of their 10 matches – drawing the other four.

“We are ready and have trained and worked hard for this match,” Lewis told No Bones with Jones. “The only thing is that this is an away fixture and we need to be careful as well, you know they have a good record. But we are prepared and will go all out to win,” Lewis added.

‘Oenie’, as Lewis is known, admitted that they also have a score to settle with Vasco after the latter got the better of them in the opening round of fixtures back in November last year.

According to Lewis, who will be assisted by his equally experienced colleague, Bradley August, Palace were still finding their feet as a unit back when Vasco beat them 1-0 in the first round.

“During the first round they got us unexpectedly,” said Lewis. “But we are in good form now and like I said we are going for the win and that’s that,” Lewis concluded.
