Rushan Abrahams, leading scorer in the Hollywoodbets Third Division thus far, returned with a bang for Silver Spurs when he netted a brace during their 3-1 win against Jomos Power at the Johnson Road Sports Complex on Friday evening.
Abrahams struck in both halves to take his tally to 26 goals after 25 games to help Spurs get back to winning ways following back-to-back defeats against Ocean View and Saxon Rovers in their previous two games.
Abrahams, who served a two-game suspension after picking up four yellow cards, said it felt good to be back and doing what he loves, which is banging in the goals.
“I have to be honest and admit that I was a bit upset with myself when I had to sit out the two games as my team also lost both those games,” Abrahams told No Bones with Jones. “In a way I blame myself, you know, as I could have scored in those games but ja, it is what it is.
“That’s why it was important for me to score on my return to make it up to the team and I am pleased that I could do just that. But most importantly we got the three points. So, ja, I am just very happy that I could contribute scoring,” he added.
Abrahams, referred to as Aguero for his eye for goals, has been admired by rival coaches and teams for his goalscoring prowess.
He is also well on his way to beating Darron Omaticus’ record of 36 goals scored a couple of seasons ago.
Abraham’s name has been on everyone’s lips for his fantastic goalscoring ability as certain clubs will definitely be eager to capture his services.
The 29-year-old attacker confirmed that he is still very happy at Spurs.
“Look, I am flattered that people talk about me but I am on Spurs’ books and my focus is with them,” Abrahams further added. “To think I played LFA football last season just to get my body back in shape and then Silver Spurs came along and said they would help me to get back to my best and see where that got me. So, I must be thankful to them as well,” Abrahams concluded.
