The full piece of the puzzle of Safa Western Cape’s Third Division Playoffs will be complete in the next week or so when the last representative will be known.
This is the expectation of the province’s Deputy Chairman Chris Tyhawana who indicated that a letter of correspondence had already been sent to the relevant regions last week Friday reminding them about the “cutoff” date for the playoffs to be hosted next month at the Kwa-Nokuthula Stadium in Plettenberg Bay from 20-21 July.
“In fact, on Tuesday our office forwarded a follow-up letter reminding Central Karoo that we still await confirmation of their representative,” Tyhawana stated to No Bones with Jones.
“They have not notified us what is happening and we cannot speculate,” Tyhawana added.
To date, all the region’s winners have been confirmed except for that of Central Karoo.
This is due to the fact that a dispute between the top two teams, Barcelona and Ubuntu Spartans, has arisen pertaining to a player that was allegedly not registered according to the rules – hence the delay to submit a representative from this region.
The most recent outfit to secure their spot at next month’s Playoffs in Plettenberg Bay is Bazuka United. The team from Gansbaai was crowned as the champion of Overberg following their 3-2 win on penalties over Mighty Stars last weekend.
Bazuka joins representatives of other regions such as Vasco da Gama (Safa CT), Diaz Leeds (West Coast), Bitou Young Pirates (Eden) Mbekweni Cosmos (Cape Winelands) who’ll be competing for two spots in the ABC Motsepe Second Division.
