Rushan Abrahams (pictured), the Golden Boot winner for his record-breaking display in the Hollywoodbets Third Division last season, has resurfaced at the Third Division newbie YMO St. Lukes.
No Bones with Jones has been informed that YMO’s soon to be appointed head coach Franklyn Davies has reached out to Abrahams with the hope of recruiting him for the new life in the Graveyard League, as the Third Division is dubbed.
Roo, as Abrahams is called, has been training with the newcomer for the past few days now.
This comes after the 29-year goal poacher has been previously training with Rieduwaan Anthony’s Hanover Park FC. It is clear that Abrahams will not commit to Anthony after he resurfaces at YMO.
Davies who is still busy finalising his squad said to No Bones with Jones. “Yes, he is training here with the4 club but look, it’s up to him – he must decide.”
Abrahams, who scored close to 40 goals last season, has been a revelation since making the step-up from LFA football to the fourth tier of SA football breaking the previous goal record set by Darron “Billy” Omaticus.
It is believed that Abrahams’ former club, Silver Spurs, is also hoping that the pacey striker will again commit to their club.
One would have expected that the goal-hungry striker would have tried his luck in a higher level like the second division to see how he would fare and cope with the demands of the Motsepe League.
But in football one never knows as the element of surprise is always lurking!
