They say a photo tells a thousand words and it doesn’t lie – and with that said, the worst kept secret is revealed…
Roger Fortune, who categorically stated to No Bones with Jones that his move to coach Hanover Park FC was “not going to happen.”
Well, it is happening although nothing official has been said yet.
So, it seems No Bones with Jones was not wrong after all after our website posted a couple of weeks ago that Fortune was to move to Downberg Road to fill the vacant position left by his predecessor Mark Faroe.
Needless to say, whatever happened between Hanover Park FC’s chairman Rieduwaan Anthony and Faroe, who has been AWOL for the previous two weeks now, indirectly – or not – led to Fortune again pairing up with his former players from Young Pirates who he just recently won promotion (to Hollywoodbets Third Division) with.
It’s actually a real pity that Faroe is no longer in the picture as he has a wealth of football knowledge and lots to still give back.
Also, the combination of ‘Pikkie’ as Faroe is called and Fortune could have been a formidable one but now one would never know.
Be that as it may, Fortune, who will in the next week or so be officially announced, still has his work cut out for him despite having the squad of players to compete for the league title, as there is still a lot to be done behind the scenes in order for Fortune to be able to fully compete for honours.
But one would be foolish to be against Fortune as he’s not just very successful but also full of surprises, hey Jolly Roger!
