Jess on the mend, Banyana goalie finally signs with UCT Ladies

After much speculation No Bones with Jones can now finally confirm that the Banyana Banyana goalkeeper Jessica Williams (pictured right with UCT Ladies’ goalkeeper coach Mark Kapman, left) will further her career with UCT Ladies in the HollywoodBets Super League.

This is a massive coup for UCT’s head coach Nasief Morris who will certainly need the experience and competence that Williams possesses – especially in the last line of defence where most teams suffer with quality goalies.

No Bones with Jones can also confirm that the 24-year-old former Badgers FC shotstopper is currently wearing a moon boot and will be out for a couple of weeks after she injured her right ankle while in action for UCT Ladies in a friendly match recently.

‘Jess,’  as Williams is affectionately known, is now being assessed by UCT Ladies’ medical team and is in a race against time to be fit for their opening match of the HollywoodBets campaign away to the University of Johannesburg on 2 March.

The Cape Town-born Williams has recently caught the eye of the national women’s coach Desiree Ellis following impressive performances forcing Ellis to recall Williams to the national set-up – who can forget Williams’ brilliant free kick during their 3-0 win against Eswathini during the Cosafa Cup?

Just one of the many reasons why she is again vying to be Banyana Banyana’s number one again. This signing will drastically improve UCT’s prospects in their debut season in the Hollywood Bets Super League.
