Rygersdal Chairman Justin Asher’ (pictured) might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but no one can deny he is an individual that crosses his T’s and dots his ‘I’s’ and is very thorough.
Hence the Rygersdal big boss, who does things by the book, opted not to reveal any details regarding their acquisition of Clover FC’s Hollywoodbets Third Division status recently until Safa Cape Town has rubber stamped it.
Without going revealing too much, let’s just say that this Cape Town Tygerberg LFA-club has a vision and is going places. who have shown immense growth under Asher’s leadership.
Therefore, this is a much welcome opportunity for the youth to benefit – especially the club’s talented boys to men, the under-18’s who have been doing well of late. Now with a Third Division side, the players can stay put at their club to reach their dreams. Similarly, this could serve as the ideal platform for further development from the club.
Secondly, Asher’s ability to rope in quality coaches such as the successful local Ashraf Calvert to buy into his vision also shows the intent and ambition of the Rygersdal chairman.
Calvert’s successful track record coupled with his ability to coach and develop female footballers as well sets him apart from the rest.
Therefore, one can confidently say that Calvert will be the coach to lead Rygersdal to newer heights – One is tempted to say one can expect Rygersdal to be a pro side in the First Division or PSL in the next five to six years.
The club released a statement earlier today whereby it shared its excitement on the new journey which read: “The message from our members was clear: Rygersdal should aim high. This move isn’t just a decision, it’s the next logical step in our progression. And what makes us truly special? We’re not tied to just one neighbourhood.
“Our family comes from every corner of Cape Town; from Steenberg to Camps Bay, Mitchell’s Plain to Fish Hoek. That diversity is our strength,” the statement read. Now it’s our turn. We’ll give this everything we’ve got, because this is about more than just football. It’s about opportunity, progression, and proving that Rygersdal belongs at the top level,” the statement ended.
