Still no winner at Metropolitan as “The Jury” is still out on DC decision

Every season, it’s the same old story, as the drama at Metropolitan LFA is just never-ending.

This crippled association, based in Bonteheuwel, is now in a race against time to confirm its league winner and representative for Safa Cape Town’s Hollywoodbets Third Division Playoffs.

The region’s deadline is set for Friday, 10th October, with the Playoffs starting in two weeks.

This comes after a DC dispute, which resulted in the LFA still not being able to determine whether Sporting United or Goulburn Athletic are the true Champions of the Met.

This matter dates back to 30 August in a match between Sporting and Phantom Orion, where the latter’s player Tashriq Malherbe received two yellow cards.

Our website is in possession of a document in which the Metropolitan confirms that the player appeared before a DC and was subsequently suspended for one match – and this ruling is the cause of the current chaos.

No Bones with Jones reached out to Metropolitan’s president, Wayne Weitz, to shed some light on the matter, but Weitz has not yet responded.

The vice-president, Lindsday Davids, who was also contacted, replied with a WhatsApp message: “Still waiting for the LFA,” Davids stated.

The irony is that Sporting and Goulburn both smell a rat and are crying foul as they feel bullied and robbed of their hard-fought success during this season’s campaign.

Goldburn’s chairman, Frank Smith, is “patiently waiting” to find out whether it will be a hat-trick of league titles for them or not.

“I don’t understand, as I know they kept records nicely. Or other things are creeping in that I don’t know, as I don’t have control over them,” Smith said to No Bones with Jones. “They must sort it out and sort themselves out as well and come up with whatever they need to.”

After many attempts, Sporting’s Chairman Denver Bartlett could not be reached for comment by the time of publication.
