The new Mitchells Plain LFA (MPLFA) Chairman, Ricky Meyer, has asked for a bit of patience following an almost ‘three-week’-long election, which was eventually ratified by Safa Cape Town at the Weltevreden Centre in Rocklands Mitchells Plain on Wednesday.
In attendance for the region were Andrew Bothman (Vice-President), Sibongile Bango (Mancom), Reyaad Joseph (General Secretary), as well as Ian Pakoe (Mancom). who were all present to ensure that the necessary protocols were followed during the election process, whereby Meyer was subsequently officially declared as the new football boss at the MPLFA.
According to Meyer who is “just glad that it’s all over,” this allows them to now focus on their planning as they have a bit of ground to make up.
“All we need is to be given a fair chance,” Meyer stated to No Bones with Jones. “From the feedback shared and the manner the election was conducted, it’s clear we have the support of our clubs and their members. For that I am grateful.
“We will move forward with all our clubs, no one will be left behind, everybody is on board. We still have a few outstanding matters, but I’m sure with the open-door policy and proactive dialogue, we should meet in the middle ground.
“The foundation is laid, so all we need to do is build a stronger and better organisation. I look forward to the challenge, but the group selected are remarkable people with knowledge and experience. Some are eager and can’t wait to get started.
“Last night (Wednesday) we said our goodbyes to a remarkable leader and a true LFA Mitchells Plain legend in Gilbert Kruger, a man who served our organisation with honesty and integrity. We are truly thankful for his service over the years,” Meyer concluded.
The new MPLFA administration consists of: President- Ricardo Meyer, Mark Rodrigues (VP 1), Noel Taylor (VP 2), Charlene Wilkinson (VP 3), Petra Loff (General Secretary), Sadick Williams (Treasurer), Yagyah Brink (Legal), Eben Loff (Trustee), Ameer Abrahams (Youth), Marco Stemmet (Competitions), Fernando Carolissen (Convenor), Donny Pickering (Facilities), Jerome Margele (Schools), Kevin Cupido (Registration), Sadick White (Marketing), Shaheed Gabier (Membership Affairs), Melissa Hoffman (Women’s Football), Byron Pearce (Finance and Procurement), Gabriel de Bruyn (Referees), Michelle de Wet (Coaches) while the self-service position is still vacant.
