Rygate LFA President Abdul Tajoodien has dispelled any myths or suspicions following the resignation of its Treasurer, Naeema Holland (pictured) recently.
“There is nothing sinister about this move,” Tajoodien confirmed to No Bones with Jones. “In fact, we are reshuffling as we are gearing up for our Annual Congress Meeting scheduled for 22 February 2026 and this forms part of our strategy so that we can have our structures in place,” Tajoodien added.
Doeltjies added that “Holland has kindly agreed to continue taking full responsibility for reporting on the finances at the AGM to ensure a smooth transition.”
Holland’s ‘drastic’ step was met with much surprise to some, while others aren’t at all and see it as it as an obvious move, especially given the recent tragedy that has befallen the local football circles with the passing of Rygate’s Vice-president Dawood Johannes, as well as Allistar Cupido who also left the organisation a couple of months ago.
Not forgetting the legendary secretary and administrator in Badroeniesa “Buddy” Jordan, who has left big boots to fill – no pressure on Nadia Emmandien.
So, given the situation of the loss of stalwarts Jordan and the passing of Johannes, this strategy to redeploy Holland makes complete sense.
According to Holland nominations were called as the LFA is sitting with no vice-president currently.
“I took this to my club and they endorsed me to apply for the vice-presidency and in order for me to apply, I had to step down as treasurer,” Holland explained.
“It’s a good move for me because I’ve brought the treasury department to a good point, with accountability, transparency, and a good routine and order. And try and improve another section of Rygate that could do with serving,” Holland concluded.
Holland is not new to leadership roles as she currently serves as the president of Oriental Gunners FC. She was also the M&R at Wynberg Netball Union as well as an umpires convenor for the WP Netball Union before unification took place in the early nineties.
