Relegation-threatened Junction will have to pull a rabbit out of hat to save its ABC Motsepe League-status

Who would have thought that Junction Rovers would be staring down the barrel of the gun, facing relegation in their third season of the ABC Motsepe League campaign?

To think, the club from Heideveld has been so honest and committed in their efforts to ensure they retain their Second Division status for the past two seasons – albeit against all odds

So, expectations from the Heideveld faithful were that this could be the season where they showed a more positive display, upward trajectory and even a surge for success in the so-called group of death, which features formidable sides like FN Rangers, Sea Point Swifts, Hanover Park and Grassy Park United, amongst others

But instead, it is quite the opposite, and it’s worrisome as a lack of finances and resources is now catching up with them. Another crucial factor causing the team to struggle is their inability to score goals. The opportunities are, they are just not converting them.

This is also why they could only manage one win, which came in their opening match  (2-0) against Hanover Park away back in November – out of 10 matches, which leaves them anchored at the bottom of Stream A.

Head coach Chrissando (pictured) De Weber will have to rely on other teams like Ikapa Sporting to also slip up should they have any chance of a lucky escape as both are locked on three points.

Needless to say, it’s a pity the partnership with Nova Nacional also fell through the mat as that would have really eased their financial burdens – but then again, one can only wonder at what costs?
