We are reaching out with a heartfelt and urgent appeal to request your support for a true legend of soccer, Farouk Abrahams (pictured) — not only a celebrated goalkeeper, but also an award-winning coach, published author and writer whose voice and experiences have inspired many beyond the football field.
Today, Farouk is facing one of the toughest battles of his life — a fight against cancer. As he undergoes critical medical treatment, the financial burden has become overwhelming for him and his family.
This appeal is driven by The Western Cape Legends Foundation, established in 2025, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting legends who have contributed positively to society and raising funds for those in need. In keeping with its mission, the foundation is committed to standing by Farouk during this challenging time.
Farouk has given so much to both the sporting and literary communities, demonstrating dedication, discipline, and passion throughout his life. Now, in his time of need, we are calling on individuals, organizations, and compassionate supporters to stand with him.
To support this cause, we are hosting a Gala Dinner in his honour on Saturday 13th June at Islamia Hall, Imam Haroon Rd Lansdowne, bringing together community members, supporters, and well-wishers to raise funds for his ongoing treatment.
