No frills, no questions asked… Pequeno answers Montague Spurs’ SOS calls for a new head coach

Vasco da Gama head coach, Andrew Pequeno (pictured), has caused a buzz when it was announced that he will be taking over the head coach position at the Cape District Football Association club Montague Spurs.

So much so, that Pequeno needed to set the record straight before the public jumped to any conclusions.

“Before people come with any rumors, I am still committed to the RKDG Vasco da Gama ABC team as things stand,” Pequeno clarified the situation to No Bones with Jones

The former Hanover Park mentor says he merely answered the call in Montague’s hour of need which is very admirable.

“I got a call to assist Monties as they had no coach and I offered to help until the ABC preseason commences,” Pequeno explained to No Bones with Jones. ” I feel that I could add value on and off the field to the club and to try and assist them in moving up the log. I hope that we can have a journey that is beneficial to the players and the club,” he added.

And for those interested if Pequeno will be remunerated for his efforts, he replied: “In actual fact the phone call lasted two minutes on Wednesday evening…

“They asked if I could help, I said yes until ABC started. No discussion about monies or training days and the rest is history! tomorrow (Saturday Is my first game at William Herbert at 14:00,” Pequeno concluded.
