Although it seems like ‘Mini’ progress, Wanderers have ‘Maxi’ ambition in Third Division

Perhaps it’s the high standards set by Wanderers FC head coach Thembani Mini (pictured left) that create the impression that the club is going nowhere slowly.

Perhaps it’s the fact that the Langa-based club is still hurting after being relegated from the ABC Motsepe League last season.

Whatever the reason, one cannot ignore the fact that Mini, better known as ‘Thera’, is in his humble way trying to restore credibility and bring long-awaited success to the club.

But the fact of the matter is that Wanderers FC, under Mini, is holding its own in the cut-throat Hollywoodbets Third Division campaign.

Wanderers FC is currently placed 10th with five wins, three draws and five losses. The stats might not be as impressive as Mini would have wanted it to be, but it clearly shows that Wanderers have the ability and talent to compete and spring a few surprises in the debut season in the Third Division.

Their latest 3-1 (away) victory over a much more fancied and illustrious opponent in Saxon Rovers, is testimony thereof.

Mini said that it’s a process that will require a collective effort from the players.

“We continue to grind out results as if nothing happened,” Mini told No Bones with Jones. “Remember, we are new to the league and the games come thick and fast and you always have to be prepared.”

When probed if Mini, who was appointed in November last year is already feeling the pressure, he responded: “I have pressure every day – even with my personal standards. I mean in life generally it has to do with pressure and football is no different, but it’s a good pressure and I thrive on that,” he concluded.
