Coach Zeederberg ready to weave his Magic and break his club’s Coke Cup duck

The Magic Ladies head coach, Winston Zeederberg, is on the cusp of collecting the biggest piece of silverware in the club’s history, yet he is as cool as a cucumber.

The fact of the matter is that Zeederberg has been in more pressurized situations, as he has been long in the game, and this has taught him the ins and outs of the football world.

The 41-year-old is also a former champion with Santos (2005) and UWC Ladies, as well as a two-time runner-up with Spurs Ladies (2018 and 2019).

According to the Bonteheuwel-born Zeederberg, one thing he has learnt over time is to be calm in these types of situations, as he knows all eyes will be on him to break Magic’s curse in this prestigious cup competition.

“You mustn’t allow your emotions to get to you,” Zeederberg pointed out to No Bones with Jones.
“And this is what I have to transfer to my players. This is something that they wanted, you know. They want this so bad.”

Zeederberg stated he won’t be reinventing the wheel and will especially draw on previous experiences to ensure that he gets his side over the line. One must also not forget Magic Ladies along with the other 13 Sasol League teams are embroiled in a legal battle with Safa Western Cape, yet they still managed to progress to the final.

“Look, we’ll prepare the way we normally do, and we treat it as we would do any other match,” Zeederberg added.

“I can confidently say there is no pressure really. The only pressure is what we put on ourselves, you know, so that’s the only pressure. RV is always a good team to play against, they play organised football, organised patterns. So, it’s going to be a good and tough game of football and we are all excited,” Zeederberg concluded.
