It appears that the ABC Motsepe League club Antalyaspor JPM Cape Town is in the market for a new coach – and if their current head coach Dylan Dean (pictured) is aware of this latest development, is anyone’s guess.
No Bones with Jones has established that the Wynberg-based club has reached out to a few A-lister coaches of amateur football to possibly replace Dean, who has been in charge since taking over from Ashraf Calvert halfway through last season.
Calvert led the club to the Nedbank Cup regional title and was subsequently unceremoniously axed and replaced with Dean.
This, however, did not deter Calvert, as ‘Assie’ went on to win the Motsepe League title with Young Bafana and showed his former club the middle finger in the process.
Our website can now confirm that Dean’s post could be in jeopardy after his employers made contact with candidates such as Maties FC’s Desmond Crowie and others such as Arreshaat Daniels and Zane Ryklief.
Antalyaspor’s chairman Justin Paulsen informed our website that there is “nothing like this at the moment.
“There’s been talk with people but nothing has transpired,” Paulsen confirmed.
It appears as Dean’s days could be numbered after his outfit squandered a 2-0 half-time lead to draw 2-2 against Hout Bay United Football Club at the Wynberg Military base on Saturday.
Antalyaspor is currently playing second fiddle to the Maties in Stream B, who also played a game less than the club from the Southern Suburbs and could extend their lead at the top to four points if they beat Cape Town Spurs at Ikamva on Sunday (11 February).
