Green Machine’s Pony says Final against Vasco is “just another game”

It’s just another game!

This was the message Greenwood Athletic head coach Lionel Miller shared with his players ahead of their Nedbank Cup Regional Final against Vasco da Gama at Solo Street.

Miller’s reaction comes after his Greenwood side won the Nedbank Cup mini-playoffs for Third Division clubs at the Rooikrans Sports Complex on Sunday.

The Retreat-based outfit beat Standards by 3-0 in the Regional Final to set-up a provincial final against Andrew Perqueno’s ABC Motsepe League outfit at their Solo Street astroturf with a date and time to be confirmed.

My message was plain and simple, it is just another game,” Miller stated to No Bones with Jones. “We got to this phase of the tournament with hard work and determination, so why worry about this upcoming game, it’s just another game,” he added.

”I never ever worry about any opponents, I always worry about my own team and game plan. So let them be impressive.”

Miller has gone quiet about his business this season and has yet again shown why he is taylormade for the Green Machine – and why he was brought back last season.

Needless to say that Pony, as he is called, did more than damage control last season following a poor start to the campaign.

Miller has started this season in the same fashion they ended last season – with a bang and they are 90 minutes away from another historic achievement. Miller refused to take any credit for their great cup-run thus far.

“Look, this is not me but all down to the players,” Miller acknowledged. ”Their hard work, commitment and discipline. But we will not get ahead of ourselves and take it one game at a time. I also want to thank my technical team as they deserve credit as well for their work behind the scenes,” Miller concluded.
