After 15 years of ABC Motsepe League football, Ikapa Sporting FC’s owner Shaun Petersen has decided to close shop and sell its Second Division status – any takers?
This is the latest news confirmed to No Bones with Jones following speculation last season already that the club was on the market but this was put to bed by Petersen then.
Now, a source close to the club revealed that the club definitely won’t be playing in the Motsepe League ever again.
“It’s the end of an era and I am almost tempted to say the beginning of a new one but hold your horses,” the source stated to No Bones with Jones.
“But yes, we are for sale and done with football in this league.”
Ikapa, the longest serving club in the Second Division, has unfortunately had no real success during this time but has been a regular force to be reckoned with. Coaches such as Brandon Truter also came through its ranks at one stage.
It will be interesting to see who will pounce on this offer as it is all too common that demand for a second division status is high.
