Kamaal takes charge at UCT Ladies after car crash leaves technical team in hospital

The prayers and well wishes are still streaming in for UCT Ladies’ technical team who all survived an accident en route to the playoffs in Knysna’ Eden region on Saturday. 

No Bones with Jones has been informed that UCT’s coach Ahmed Parker (pictured third left) is currently in a serious but stable condition in hospital along with his assistant coach Shaquille Williams (far right) and goalkeeper coach Mark Kapman (second left).

Parker and his UCT technical squad was on their way to the Playoffs in Knysna hosted by Safa Western Cape when the incident happened on Saturday.  Needless to say it came as a massive shock as the champions left a couple of days early to acclimatise to the conditions

The Playoffs for the Hollywoodbets Super League will be hosted in the Eden region this year after it was initially expected to take place in Cape Town.

Our website has been informed that UCT’s former coach Kamaal Sait (pictured left) will now slot in to take up Parker’s position at the Playoffs.  

Sait, who visited Parker at the Bayview Hospital in Knysna on Sunday, confirmed that both Parker and Kapman are currently in a stable condition. 

“Both of them are obviously in a lot of pain,” Sait confirmed to No Bones with Jones. “Parker will have to undergo a skin graft operation and his shoulder also popped out and there’s complications with his triceps.

“With Kappies, who sat alone at the back in the car, he’s got a few cracked ribs and there’s nothing they can do for him other than he needs to get rest. The luggage and gear in the boot really saved him as well,” Sait added.

Sait, who will have to pick up the pieces, said that his main priority is to get the players in the right frame of mind. ahead of their first game on Wednesday. 

The Western Cape champion faces Ezemvelo from KZN in their opening match on Wednesday which will be a crucial fixture to start off their campaign.

“I’m actually on my way to the hotel to address the players,” Sait added. “We are having a session tomorrow and Tuesday as we need to be mentally focussed,” Sait concluded. 

Parker, who communicated via a whatsapp voice note said: “My right hand is busted and sorry for the voice note,” Parker said to No Bones with Jones. “Thank you to all for the prayers and well wishes,” Parker concluded.
