Safa Western Cape’s Motsepe League features a top-of-the-table clash in Stream B between the unbeaten log leader Diadora FC and second-placed Grassy Park United – this match-up has the makings of a very intriguing clash at the William Herbert Sports Complex in Wynberg on Friday.
Take the pace-setters Diadora, who boast a near-perfect record after six games, racking up five wins from their six matches. This is mainly due to their potent strike force and solid defence. They have already scored 20 goals and only conceded three.
Meanwhile, Grassy Park can boast that they possess the best defence in the league. They have scored a modest 11 goals but have only conceded 1 in five matches.
But the main reason this game will grab the attention of many is that Diadora will come up against a former coach, Mangaliso Ntombana, who knows the club inside out and also achieved huge success with them in the recent past.
So, it’s expected that Ntombana, or Shakes as he is called, would want to trump his old buddies to walk away with bragging rights, hence his troops will be fired up!
“Both teams are very competitive, so we are bracing for a tough match,” Ntombana shared with No Bones with Jones. “Look, it’s a big game, but definitely not a determining factor as to who will win the league. Besides, there is still a long way to go,” he added.
Ntombana will come up against Safa Cape Town’s coach of the year for 2025, Zain Abrahams, who has had an immediate impact and is taking Diadora to greater heights.
