More action in car park than on field – as teams default in Engen Cup

The car park at the Strandfontein Sports Complex in Mitchells Plain, venue of the first round of under-18 Engen Knockout Challenge playoffs, was more of a buzz than the action on the field on Saturday.

This comes after a no show of the bulk of the teams who entered for this prestigious national tournament – for whatever reason.

Some might call this a disaster, while others might say that sometimes things are just beyond one’s control, but whichever way one looks at it, the first round did not live up to expectations. Safa Cape Town’s acting General Secretary Reyaad Joseph explained to No Bones with Jones.
