Rocklands Sport Complex new battle for Plumstead and Manyano to rewrite history books

The beauty of the Gavin Manuel Memorial Legacy Schools Soccer Tournament is that it never seizes to amaze – whether it’s on or off the field!

The million-dollar question on everyone’s lips this year is, can Plumstead High defend their title as no school could ever achieve this feat.

Should the school from the Southern Suburbs muster this achievement, then it will also be a first trophy that will be lifted at the Rocklands Sport Complex.

This comes after the Tournament Director, Sean Campbell, were forced to seek greener pastures due to ongoing politic at the Rocklands High Sport Field where it hasted been hosted since its inception in 2017.

Meanwhile, the defending champion in the girls’ section Ilitha Park from the Metro East District Municipality in Western Cape, harbours bigger aspirations and is seeking a third title on the trot. This follows after they beat Glendale High 3-0 in the girls’ final last year.

“As cliche as it sounds, it really all systems go and we did what we could and now the games must begin,” said an upbeat Campbell ahead of the start of the tournament to No Bones with Jones. “Just imagine what we can achieve with proper backing and financial assistance,” Campbell concluded.

The tournament started on Monday (6 October) and coincides with the school holidays for the third term. with the finals on Tuesday (7 October).
