Roo’s ‘absence’ against log leader Saxons shows YMO has lost the plot, inexperienced Slingers now in a bid to save their Third Division status

How do you bench the top goalscorer in Safa Cape Town’s Third Division when you are facing relegation, and you play the log leaders who cannot put a foot wrong in the league?

This baffling question has left many speechless after YMO FC dropped their goal poacher and top marksman with 18 goals, Rushan Abrahams (pictured) for their encounter against the formidable pacesetters, Saxon Rovers?

I guess it is also why they were convincingly beaten 4-1 by Saxons at the Downberg Road Sport Complex in Hanover Park on Sunday.

It was clear that Abrahams tried to hide his frustration by putting on a brave face with a few giggles here and there on the sidelines, but the fact that he was not given the respect he deserves, got the proverbial tongues wagging.

By the time Abrahams was introduced in the second half, YMO was trailing 1-2 and it was always going to be a tall order to catch up.

This decision also exposes the inexperience of YMO’s management and the fact that they have lost the plot and does not really know how to turn things around – as five points over a period of three months is poor and why the alarm bells are now ringing!

But then again, things started to take a turn for the worse since the departure of their head coach Lwazi Galada and his assistant Timothy Jonhson when the league resumed after the Festive break.

This crack widened when the club’s Technical Director, Franklyn Davies, also left the club in a rather hush-hush manner which suggests that something major must have happened – perhaps all will be revealed in due time.
