Safa CT at loggerheads with Bayhill Cup over clashing Playoff fixtures

Safa Cape Town is said to be at loggerheads with the organisers of the Bayhill Premier Cup over the dates of the first round of Playoffs of this prestigious tournament.

The Bayhill Playoffs clash with the all-important Regional Third Division Playoffs of Safa – with both being pencilled in for the weekend of 28 and 29 October.

Rumour has it that the Bayhill organisers are refusing to move their event, which takes place at Solo Street Sports Complex in Retreat.

The Regional Playoffs, where the League winners of the respective 33 Local Football Associations will be in action, starts on Wednesday 25 October, and ends with matches on Saturday and Sunday ( 28 and 29 October) at William Herbert in Wynberg.

The Cape soccer body is now left with a massive headache.

And to complicate matters even more, Safa Cape Town’s Nedbank Cup Playoffs are also scheduled for the same weekend.

This makes it virtually impossible for the Bayhill matches to continue, as senior competitions will have to take preference.

No Bones with Jones understands that Safa CT will in the coming days flex its muscles and instruct the organisers of the Bayhill to move their campaign to a later date.

It will be interesting to note what will happen if they refuse – as this could have a serious impact on local football moving forward.

Safa Cape Town could pull rank and force the Bayhill Cup organisers to postpone – and if they do not adhere to the Mother body’s instructions, things could get real messy.
