All eyes are currently on Safa Cape Town to explain to the football public why and what exempted the organisers of the Sport Pesa tournament from adhering to the rules and laws of their constitution.
It is alleged that the organisers changed the rules on the day. However, it was Safa CT’s responsibility to make sure the checks and balances were in place so that that fair play prevailed – but none of the region’s officials were present to ensure this knowing well that their president Bennett Bailey was out of the country on official duty.
No Bones with Jones has contacted the Cape’s Football Mother body to get clarity as to why players were allegedly allowed to produce only their ID’s which cleared them to play – and if the necessary action will be taken seeing that the tournament was sanctioned by Safa CT.
The region’s General Secretary Reyaad Joseph has meanwhile responded by saying that he cannot comment on the matter at this stage.
“I’m sure the leadership will be discussing the matter,” Joseph said to No Bones with Jones.
This follows a number of complaints from clubs and coaches who have expressed their dismay on how the tournament was run, citing double standards as the order of the day.
