Safa Cape Town president Bennett Bailey has responded to the recent ‘controversy’ between Safa Cape Town and the Bayhill Premier Cup.
This follows after No Bones with Jones reported that the two entities could be at loggerheads with the Mother Body hosting the Third Division Playoffs and the Nedbank Cup Playoffs at the same time as the Playoffs for the Bayhill Premier Cup tournament.
The Cape soccer boss stated that the clash of events should not be seen in isolation, but rather as opportunities for young footballers.
“This is where choices need to be made,” Bailey said to our website. However, I believe there can be a realignment of programs because young people are always looking for opportunities. They look at what is best for them.
“So, if there is a realignment and an alignment to certain programs, then young people can make up their minds qualitatively.
“But if they are presented with these types of challenges as we move forward, they will decide to either play in the one, or the other. And that will ultimately result in one or the other suffering.
“So, therefore, this conversation is not the end of the world,” Bailey concluded.
