Sweet revenge for Greenwood as they humble Rygersdal 3-1 at the Meadows

It was indeed sweet revenge for coach Lionel Miller and his Greenwood Athletic side when they returned the favour for their 2-3 first round defeat, humbling Rygersdal by 3-1 at their Meadowridge home ground on Tuesday evening.

Goals from Eldridge Viljoen (pictured) in either half plus another one from Darren Maarman ensured that the visitors from Retreat had the last laugh during a Safa Cape Town Third Division clash.

Giovanni Ghafoor’s leveller in the first half time proved nothing but a consolation goal in the end as the home side lacked the necessary cutting edge in the second stanza.

The night belonged to Greenwood who secured a massive three points and confidence booster for and also ended Rygersdal’s 12-match unbeaten run in the process.

On the flip side, this indeed a bitter pill to swallow for coach Ashraf Calvert who did not expect to drop points on home soil in such a manner, but he’l have to take it on the chin and move on as it’s back to the drawing board for the newbies.
