Two streams with three regions each for new Motsepe League format

The much anticipated format changes proposed for the 2024/’25 ABC Motsepe League season is a formality and will soon come into effect.

No Bones with Jones has been informed that there will be two streams with three regions each: one consisting of Safa Cape Town, Safa West Coast and Safa Cape Winelands while the second stream sees Safa Overberg, Safa Eden and Safa Central Karoo grouped together.

The powers that be are set to meet next week to unravel the nitty-gritty of the new format and changes for the two streams.

These changes, which will come into effect in the near future, have been welcomed by the broader football public due to the fact that it caters for inclusivity and diversity – something that the Safa Western Cape has been yearning for quite some time now.

Simultaneously, it is receiving the thumbs down as it will only benefit certain regions and not all.

The new format could perhaps be beneficial for newbies like Mbekweni Cosmos from the Cape Winelands and Safa CT’s Vasco da Gama as all clubs are starting from a clean slate so to speak – similarly there cannot be no excuses for this duo should they for whatever reason have a diabolical start to the season.
