Veteran Sass is still in high demand as clubs queuing-up for his services

At 40 years, five months and a couple of days, Ashley Sass (pictured) is still in demand as ever.

This comes after Durbanville FC’s Head of Football Graham Purdy made no secret about the fact that he’ll have the tricky winger with his distinct Rasta Fari-dreadlock hairdo, back in a “heartbeat.”

The only drawback is that Purdy, who stepped down as head coach of the senior side last season, has no knowledge about the rumours floating around that they are currently orchestrating a move to bring Sass back to the club.

Purdy explained to No Bones with Jones. “I know there were talks last season about a possible return for Sass, but nothing to my knowledge this time round. I’ll definitely have a word with our coaches to find out what the situation is. But if we were to get him, it must be done the proper way as I don’t want to step on anyone’s toes for any player. But if he is available, we’ll definitely have him back in a heartbeat,” Purdy added.

Meanwhile Sass’ former Juventus FC club in Mitchells Plain has apparently also expressed their desire to have the livewire veteran in their midst for the new season – so, too have Westridge United weighed in on recruiting his services.
