Victor admits it was “big relief” to finally get Spurs’ first victory of Third Division campaign

Silver Spurs new head coach Victor Tajoodien admitted it was “big relief” to finally get back to winning ways following a 2-1 win over Wanderers FC at the Hickory Road Astroturf on Tuesday evening.

Goals via the veteran striker Nizaam ‘Tommy’ Miller and Mogamat Moses secured a first win after four games in Safa Cape Town’s Third Division campaign.

Spurs parted ways with the experienced Goodwin Lewis on Monday after failing to collect a single point in his three games in charge.

Tajoodien subsequently stepped in to fill the vacant position along with his younger brother Cheslyn, as well as Kevin Lewis who remained as the assistant coach after Goodwin’s departure.

Tajoodien has reminded his troops that one swallow does not make a summer, as there is still lots of work to be done..

“Look, we still have a long way to go and a lot of work that needs to be done to complete the team but I’m very happy with this evening,” Victor told No Bones with Jones.

“Bear in mind, we only had one training session together. But yes, it is a big relief to finally get our first win of the season,” he added.

Spurs – who face Antalyaspor JPM Cape Town at Youngsfield Sport Field on Saturday – are still languishing at the bottom of the table – only last placed Goodhope FC have performed weaker with still no points on the board after four matches.
