Two bad days at the office for Trinnies in the Third Division

Despite it still being early days in the Hollywoodbets Third Division campaign, the unpredictability of this cut-throat league has already surfaced.

This was characterised by some unexpected and shocking results over the weekend.

The biggest and most surprising of them all was when coach Zaheer Simons’ Trinitarians failed to bag a single point in their double-header against Cape Town City and Wanderers respectively.

Trinnies came up short when they were beaten 3-0 by CT City at their Uitsig home ground and tasted defeat again a day later when they were edged 1-0 by Wanderers FC at the Langa Stadium.

Simons conceded that it’s a weekend that they would rather want to forget instead of delving into the postmortems.

“I think we should be up and running in the next couple of weeks,” Simons told No Bones with Jones. “I don’t want to make excuses and therefore I’m going to say we were just poor and below par. I do feel there are a lot of positives. Bear in mind we are in a slight rebuilding phase if I can put it that way with 70 percent of the players that are new and we are still trying to find our feet, you know.

“It’s a dip that we are glad for so early in the season compared to previous seasons where we were flying. So, rather now when it is still early days and we can rectify those issues as opposed to the latter end where it might be too late.” Simons concluded.

Seven other teams, Silver Spurs, Crystal Palace, Saxon Rovers, JL Zwane, Goal50 United, Wanderers and Camps Bay all got the proverbial monkey off their backs to get their season up and running.

For Camps Bay, known as the ‘Beach Boys’, this win was much needed as they travel to Parow Park on Monday evening to face one of the hot favourites in Vasco da Gama who have two wins from two matches and sitting in third position currently.

So too does the log leader Cape Town City who is setting the pace followed by Woodlands United in second position.
