Well, well, well…
Very few could have predicted the latest twist of events in the ongoing battle between Safa Cape Town and the Cape District Football Association (CDFA).
No Bones with Jones has been informed that the CFDA has sent a proposal to the region requesting “peace talks” and for the two parties to engage on the way forward.
The two entities who have been at loggerheads for months now, were set to go head-to-head in court on 23 May after the LFA was placed under administration and slapped with a R30 000 fine by Safa CT.
The CDFA contested this and exercised its legal rights – which seems to be all academic and irrelevant now given the two parties are willing to negotiate and find a compromise.
It is believed that (executive) members of various clubs at the CDFA have also had a prior engagement with the beleaguered LFA whereby the clubs have asked for this madness to come to an end.
“According to my understanding they want to settle and not let this thing drag on as it is definitely not in the best interest of football,” an executive member of the CFDA told No Bones with Jones.
“There’s was a proposed settlement offer on the table, but let’s wait and see as this news will catch many off guard, you know.
“I don’t think that the CFDA wants to be seen as the villains anymore because of its fight with the mother body. But hey, we must probably say ‘Hallelujah’ as our prayers have been answered.
The football public should now just keep fingers crossed that the two parties can reach an agreement on Monday and allow football to be the winner again – like intended from the outset.
