It is time Safa Cape Town comes clean on the Wayne Weitz-saga as it has been dragging on for too long and it’s also way past its supposed ‘deadline.’
No Bones with Jones was informed that the region was set to meet last week already regarding the issue but subsequently postponed with no new date set with a week which has now passed.
Now, in my view, the region initially reacted within its constitutional rights which included all the necessary disciplinary procedures and processes as the matter was deemed very serious and sensitive.
Weitz’s precautionary suspension underlined the serious intentions of the region who felt Weitz had allegedly transgressed, and they needed to act.
Furthermore, a subsequent 30-day period was requested by the region to broaden the audit and this time period has lapsed already…. and since there has been no word or indication from the region to date regarding the next steps in the process.
However, one can now start to question the region’s motives as their lack of decisiveness and seriousness regarding the issue is raising more questions than answers… Is it really about Weitz’s so-called alleged ‘breach of protocol’ or are there some other sinister motives at play?
Is Weitz guilty or not? If he did not steal any money, what crime did he commit in order for him to be subjected to this type of humiliation and treatment?
Our website understands that Weitz’s Metropolitan LFA has to date received no correspondence or feedback regarding the future of their beleaguered president.
It’s also been communicated that the Sea Point Swifts member is just doing his duties at club and LFA level while there seems to be no urgency from the powers that be to wrap up this case.
Whichever you look at this, there is no denying that Weitz’s name is for sure tarnished and one wonders for how long he will hold the moral high?
Does his respect for the cause and organisations run so deep that he opts to remain silent for the greater good? Will Weitz silence carry so much weight in the long-run that it ultimately leads to the ‘big bang’?
These are questions which come to mind with the manner in which this case could unfold – something’s got to give somewhere – where it’s now or later… as long as justice prevails!
