No animosity, says Salt River Blackpool’s Kasker as CTTLFA rejects application for membership

Has Salt River Blackpool FC’s (SRBP) reputation precede itself?

These are some of the utterances following a denied request for the Salt River-based club to switch allegiances from the Cape District Football Association (CDFA) to the Cape Town Tygerberg LFA (CTTFA).

No Bones with Jonereached out to CTTFA’s General Secretary Justin Asher after it was alleged on social media that the CTTFA’s reasoning for the rejection is that they do not like what they see on the social platforms from SRBP.

Asher responded to No Bones with Jones with their official comment: “We have a process to accept new clubs which is both transparent and democratic. Our clubs are the ones who decide, by majority at our AGM, whether or not a new club is accepted and unfortunately SRBP never received that majority threshold and why clubs vote the way they do is a question for them.”

Asher further explained: “It’s important clubs who apply for membership reach out to our existing clubs for endorsement and support, clubs appreciate this and it helps mitigate any surprises at the end,” the CTTFA executive member oncluded.

This desire could also be driven by the fact that the club’s chairman Iqbal Kasker (pictured) signed a partnership with the Hollywoodbets Third Division side Camps Bay FC to join forces.

And with Camps Bay FC a member of the CTTFA, it kind of makes sense to streamline their affiliation as well.

Meanwhile, Kasker emphasized that there is no animosity or ill feeling after they have been declined membership.

“We applied at CTTFA and we were unsuccessful so we remain at CDFA,” Kasker stated to No Bones with Jones. “There is no animosity, not at all. I don’t know why these things are posted. I guess people don’t like for others to succeed,” Kasker concluded.
