Whether it was done intentionally or not, the fact of the matter is that Silver Spurs FC interim coach Victor Tajoodien has dropped a bomb – which could shake YMO FC to the core – ahead of their Hollywoodbets Third Division encounter at the Hickory Road Sports field on Friday evening.
Tajoodien, who took over the reins from Keith America at the back end of last year revealed that he has given his assistant, Mario Tito (pictured), the nod to take full control of the team as he has too much on his plate.
“I’ve steadied the ship but I am not in a position to carry on full time as I have other commitments which require my attention as well,” Tajoodien explained to No Bones with Jones.
“Therefore I have informed Mario to take the lead. He is Silver Spurs through and through and always has the club’s best interest at heart. So, I’m confident we will soon be back to our best with him in charge,” Tajoodien added.
This means that it will be a showdown between two former teammates and Co-coaches, Tito and the former Spurs player and coach, Franklyn Davies.
There’s probably very little that ‘Super’ Mario as Tito is called and ‘Tollie’ another name that Davies goes by, does not know about each other.
They were both at the helm of Spurs last season but this marriage did not last. One can rest assured that these two would want to get the better of the other, no doubt.
Now they get to match up and gauge who rules the roost on Friday evening at the Hickory Road astro turf – sports field a stone’s throw away from where they grew up.
There is also very little that YMO can hide from Tito as YMO has at least eight former Spurs’ players who switched allegiances to the Third Division newcomer.
Tito said that he is bracing himself for a ‘derby’ anticipating a no-love lost affair.
Tito explained to No Bones with Jones: “YMO are doing well. The standout players within their team are the ex-Silver Spurs players, needless to say that it is basically a Spurs derby Friday night. We have started off slow this season and we are playing catch up, so our focus is one game at a time.
“This league is like no other. Today you are top of the log and next week you find yourself mid-table and similarly at the bottom end this can change over one weekend,” Tito concluded.
