Curtley Daniels’ Rygersdal produced the result of the weekend with a stunning 4-0 demolition of Cape Town Spurs at Ikamva, handing the academy side a heavy defeat and further boosting their own ambitions.
Not to mention Roger Fortune’s Young Pirates continued their impressive campaign with a narrow but valuable 1-0 victory over Trinitarians, while the points were shared between Junction and Greenwood Athletic, who played out a hard-fought 1-1 draw.
At the JL Zwane Centre, the hosts edged Jomo’s Power 1-0 in a tightly contested encounter, while Shane Petersen’s Ashford Athletic maintained their momentum with a convincing 3-1 triumph over Wanderers.
There was nothing to separate the newbie Everton and Premier United, who battled to a 1-1 stalemate, while Chrissando de Weber did not just get the proverbial monkey off his back, but also ensured that his Wynberg St. Johns (WSJ) outfit have bragging rights in a Cape Town Tygerberg derby following 1-0 victory over Vasco da Gama.
Meanwhile the battle of the debutants will see D6 Mitchells Plain welcome Rising Stars FC to the Khayelitsha Stadium (15:00) on Sunday while Cape Town City host Sardick Barends’ Silver Spurs (13:00) at Malta Park on the same day.
