A total of 148 teams representing 40 clubs, competing across nine age groups and three different competition formats – ranging from small-sided grassroots football to full 11-a-side matches will make up the 2026 edition of the FC Kapstadt Cup.
This also include debuts for international sides like Igugu Lesizwe (Zimbabwe), Teenagers FC (Namibia) and Ramblers FC (Namibia) while Wolves FC, Grassy Park United FC (Both Cape District LFA), Caledonians FC (Gqeberha), 7 Elite Academy, Panorama FC, Flamingos FC (KwaZulu-Natal) and Rovers FC (Gauteng) will be making their first appearances respectively from a South African perspective.
The tournament will take place from Wednesday, 30 September to Sunday, 4 October 2026, with matches hosted across several of Cape Town’s prominent football facilities for a “Truly African Football Experience.”
The host club’s owner and Tournament Director, Zaid Omar, says the tournament encompasses football development with meaningful competition.
“I firmly believe that quality competition is an essential part of player development,” Omar explained. “There is no development without quality competition. We have players as young as five years old competing in the Kapstadt CUP and over the years progressing through the different stages of their development towards senior football.
“The tournament has positively touched the lives of countless young players, with many going on to pursue professional football careers. We are proud that the Kapstadt CUP provides a meaningful, turnkey development platform for young African footballers. More importantly, we continue to raise the flag for ‘Play & Respect’,” Omar concluded.
The launch and draw will take place on 25 September at the UVU Africa Brickfield Canvas in Salt River at 19:00.
