It’s official! Cape Style Veterans are the undisputed kings of the Silver Spurs Veterans Tournament’s Over-35 division.
The Bonteheuwel outfit etched their name into the tournament’s history books after securing a remarkable third consecutive title, edging Hanover Park FC 1-0 in a tightly contested final.
Packed with experience and quality, Cape Style’s squad featured former professional players such as brothers Mario and David Booysen whose presence once again proved instrumental in the team’s latest triumph.
Spare a thought for Hanover Park FC, however. Despite reaching an impressive four finals across the various age categories, they were only able to lift two trophies on the day.
Their moments of glory came in the Over-40 and Over-50 divisions, where they defeated Norwich FC 2-1 on penalties after the sides were deadlocked at 0-0.
But there was further heartbreak in the Over-45 final, where Hanover Park fell agonisingly short, losing 3-2 on penalties to a star-studded Kewton FC side that included former Santos defender Ricardo Scheepers.
While Hanover Park left with silverware of their own, the day undoubtedly belonged to Cape Style Veterans, who cemented their legacy by completing an extraordinary hattrick of Over-35 titles and further enhancing their reputation as one of the dominant forces in veterans’ football.
