Fed Legends Power Shift as Stevie Is Ousted in Dramatic No-Confidence Vote, Boebie Takes Charge as Interim Chair

The Western Cape Federation Legends has passed a vote of no confidence in its chairperson, Stevie Williams, during a special meeting held at Al Azhar School in Athlone, resulting in his removal from office.

Vice-chairperson Boebie Solomons has since been appointed interim chairperson while the organisation makes arrangements for an elective meeting to choose a new leadership team.

This was confirmed via a statement by the organisation: “At a Special General Meeting facilitated by the SAFA officials, Mr Gilbert Kruger and Martin Julie, nominated by sitting chair Mr Williams, members discussed a vote of no confidence in sitting chair, Mr Stephen Williams.

“The vote ended in favour of the motion of no confidence and Mr Williams vacated his position. The committee is making interim arrangements under the chairmanship of Mr Boebie Solomons to continue operations and will call an elective meeting at date to be announced.

Mr Williams was thanked for his services and come back stronger,” the statement concluded.

Meanwhile, No Bones with Jones was present at the meeting but was requested to leave with the outgoing chairperson among the most vocal participants not to have the media present.

That appeared to be Williams’ final involvement in the proceedings, as members subsequently passed a motion of no confidence against him.

According to information presented during the meeting, the primary reasons cited for Williams’ removal were allegations of a leadership style viewed by members as overly authoritarian, as well as claims that he had undermined both fellow executive members and the organisation itself.

The meeting also heard calls for an independent and impartial process to help resolve the ongoing internal disputes that have plagued the federation in recent months.

The latest development marks a significant turning point for the Federation Legends organisation, which has been grappling with internal divisions and governance disputes. Attention will now turn to the process of rebuilding unity within the executive and determining the way forward following Williams’ removal.

  1. You lead with influence not intimidation. This has been coming on a long time. High performing Organizations are designed and doesn’t happen by accident as in this case with Stevie Williams when he initiated to have the previous Chair. Mr. Mogamed De Goede ousted in 15/01/2023. He even had me removed from the group, so he deserves all that came his way and it was unanimous. Hopefully we can move forward with transparency, accountability and integrity. But beware of the backlash from the peanut gallery.
