A huge “Weitz” on Wayne’s shoulders: the 30 days are over, Safa CT

Just the other day Safa Cape Town was hellbent and utterly convinced that its beleaguered Treasurer Wayne Weitz has committed a major transgression.

Hence, Weitz was placed under “precautionary suspension” pertaining to issues of governance and failure to follow protocol as stated in the initial press release following an investigation by a committee led by the Chair of the Finance Committee, Ms Siviwe Tyali, into the alleged breaches and reported back to the Regional Executive Committee.

The suspension of Weitz, also the president of the Metropolitan LFA, was subsequently extended by 30 days at Safa CT’s Annual Congress in Rylands to allow a further internal audit by fincom.

No motion was put forward just that a 30-day period was requested by the region to broaden the audit.
So, yesterday was exactly 30 days since the congress meeting and there has been no word or indication from the region to date regarding the next steps in the process.

One wouldn’t put it past them to have already forgotten about the pertinent issues that should have been addressed.

If Weitz was so guilty of a major transgression, why does Safa CT not act accordingly to make sure that justice is served? I mean, it will surely send out a strong message to its members that no irregularities will be tolerated under the Mother Body’s watch.

But what if Weitz is a victim of dirty politics… What if he has been set-up as the fall guy for something bigger?
