Carelse back in Ocean View hot seat ready for “Mission Impossible”

Ocean View has responded to its crisis by reverting to their former coach Cliffie Carelse.

The coastal side is anchored at the foot of the table and facing serious relegation fears after they struggled to collect a single point from their nine matches going into the Festive break.

Carelse, a former Cape Town Spurs player and uncle of Brent Carelse confirmed that he is taking over the reins from Denver Patterson who has found the going just too tough in the Hollywoodbets Third Division campaign.

In Patterson’s defence, the mass exodus of players to neighbouring clubs made an already challenging task even more daunting.

Our website recently reported that Ocean View FC’s executive also held an urgent meeting on Monday evening where it was confirmed that Carelse will take over to try and change their fortunes.

“Yes, I am the coach again and will try to patch up things,” Carelse told No Bones with Jones.
“There’s a lot of politics happening but I won’t go too much into detail. We have lost 90% of our players to neighbouring clubs and hence the reason we are sitting with a bunch of youngsters who are all inexperienced.

“So, not to go into that, I will have to pick up the pieces with the limited resources that we have, but I will try my best,” Carelse added.

Despite the mammoth task Carelse remained optimistic and has pointed out that in football anything can happen given that they still have the bulk of the season (25 games) left.

He explained: “That is the one aspect where I try to remain positive, but like I said, I’ve got a lot of work ahead of me so I will only do my best. Nothing else, as I have been too long with this club and I have got them till where it is (not to put a feather in my cap).

“Like I say I can only but try with the limited resources that I have but I am going to put them to the grindstones God willing to see if I can get the best out of them,” Carelse concluded.
