‘Hare’ only training with Antalyaspor to keep fit: will decide future later

Former Bafana Bafana defender and Ajax Cape Town stalwart Clayton Daniels says that he is currently training with Antalyaspor Cape Town (Clarwood JPM) “just to keep fit.”

The 39-year-old veteran, who has been training with the ABC Motsepe League outfit since he left Cape Town Spurs, confirmed that no deal agreement has been discussed to date.

“I told them that we are not going into that at the moment, let me just train and keep fit and come the end of the season then I will make a decision if I am still going to carry on playing or if I will help out in another department,” the former Ajax, Mamelodi Sundowns, SuperSport United and Maritzburg United player told No Bones with Jones.

‘Hare’ as Daniels is known, is definitely one of the fittest veteran players in Cape Town as he is very professional and has some kick left as well as a few years in his tank.

Thus it came as no surprise when the Riverside Rangers product hinted that he is not ready to hang up his boots.

“You know what, if I can help a team like Antalyaspor or FN Rangers to reach their goals and the next level, why not? But we’ll see as it all depends how far these things go, you know,” he pointed out.

Daniels, who has won every trophy in his illustrious career (except the PSL title) of close to 500 games which spanned close to two decades, acknowledged that he is rather impressed with an amateur club which operates like a professional outfit.

“I can see the progress they are making and I can see the talent that is there,” Daniels added.

“So ja, the same with FN Rangers. I saw they won the stream so it is very good for the clubs to prosper as it gives Cape Town players another option to showcase their talent with clubs that have ambition, you know,” Daniels concluded.
