Hope FC on a shopping spree with experience added to Motsepe League newbie

If you thought that Hope FC’s current ‘shopping spree’ – which includes the likes of Selwyn Steven and Tyler Cicero – is anything to go by, then you ain’t seen nothing!

No Bones with Jones can confirm that the National First Division newbie is in the process of transforming and strengthening its squad and will shortly unveil two experienced former PSL wingers in Lyle Lakay (34) and Brandon Theron (33).

“That is also besides another exciting winger in Giovanni Philander that was released by Chippa United,” a source revealed to No Bones with Jones.”Gio’s deal is not confirmed as such, but it should be a formality,” the source concluded.

Lakay, a former Bafana Bafana attacker and Theron are seasoned campaigners and come with a wealth of experience and should undoubtedly add value to Hope. More importantly, this ex-PSL duo are local lads who supporters can resonate with.

Hope’s proactivity to strengthen makes many wonder how players are recruited, but with no mention about a new coach at this stage, but it’s believed that former assistant Clayton Daniels might be given the nod until the possible appointment of either Vasili Manousakis or Shaun Bartlett – with the former being the frontrunner.

Don’t be surprised if these acquisitions are done with the knowledge and blessing of the new coach.

Meanwhile, the former goalkeeper coach, Mark Kapman, has now been appointed as the club’s new manager.
