It’s been facetiously described as Rygersdal FC most “unsuccessful successful” Bayhill Premier Cup tournament to date.
Be that as it may, the fact remains nothing can be taken away from head coach Katleho Moleho’s achievement with his u18 Bayhill side who managed to win their first ever trophy at the Easter spectacle at the Athlone Stadium on Monday.
Rygers, who had at least six ‘experienced’ campaigners who ply their trade in the club’s senior (Third Division) team, made light work of Hout Bay United FC in the Bruyns Plate Section Final with a 4-0 victory.
The Cape Town Tygerberg side enjoyed a comfortable 2-0 lead at halftime thanks to goals from Cayden Daniels and Keanu Beukes.
The team from Meadowridge continued where they left off after the break and added two more via Fawaaz Doutie and Aminnudien Gaidien to secure a well-deserved victory.
According to Moleko, a former Orlando Pirates and Lesotho international with over 100 caps, their success is testament of his side’s teamwork and spirit which carried them through difficult times during the tournament.
