“I’m a little bit nervous but I am also excited for the opportunity.”
This is the reaction of 15-year-old striker of Salt River Blackpool Ladies’ Nishaat Levy (pictured) to No Bones with Jones following her call-up to the South African U17 WNT training camp and COSAFA U17 Girls Championship in Johannesburg.
The former Rygate Ladies player, who has been training with the UCT Ladies on a few occasions, has caught the attention of the national selectors up North with her eye for goals following her 30 plus goals for her Cape District-based club in Safa Cape Town’s Regional Women’s League this season.
The Sherwood Park-born youngster, along with the Magic Ladies’ goalie Holly Gerber will be jetting off tomorrow to join up with her national teammates for camp.
Blackpool Ladies’ chairman Iqbal Kasker said the club is incredibly proud of Nishaat for all that she has already achieved at such a tender age.
“We’re excited for her to be the first women’s player from our club to reach this level,” Kasker told our website. “We’re sure that if we keep doing things the right way under the guidance of coach Shannon Mills then Nishaat won’t be the last either,” Kasker concluded.
