Look, it was always going to be a tall order to defy the odds when Santos opted for the two-coach approach in Jay Visagie and Siza Gola (pictured) for this season’s ABC Motsepe League campaign after the duo replaced Roger Fortune after four seasons at the helm.
It did not work back then when Farouk Khan and Boebie Solomons were appointed jointly…
And fast forward a decade or so – last week Monday – two months after Visagie and Gola were appointed – the latter left the club following an alleged break in communication with the Santos hierarchy.
These unexpected developments meant that Visagie had to step up with the Technical Director Ayoob Gester filling in the vacant position on the bench for their 2-0 win over Mbekweni Cosmos at their Thornton home-ground on Saturday.
Gola confirmed there’s no bad blood following his departure from the People’s Team.
“Things didn’t work out so I left and there are no bad feelings, “Gola told No Bones with Jones. “The chairman and I spoke about my situation and understood,” Zola added.
This combination of Visagie and Gester managed to secure a second win for Santos, pushing them up to sixth position in Stream B after three games.
